StudyHawk: your semester, organized

StudyHawk is an AI academic assistant for university students, at studyhawk.app. Ask about your classes in plain language: StudyHawk reads Canvas and Degree Works and turns them into a plan, with priorities, time estimates and the next step. It is an AI agent, not just a chatbot: it plans, uses tools, works with helper agents and keeps working on our servers after you close the page. StudyHawk was formerly called EagleDocs.

It works with the model you already use (your ChatGPT account or your own API keys), and gives every student a private workspace with their course files, code, a real browser and searchable libraries of their notes. StudyHawk explains and guides; it does not hand in graded work as if it were yours.

From a question to a plan

  1. Ask like you would ask a friend. Type a question about your classes, such as "What do I have due this week?". No commands, no setup every time.
  2. It reads Canvas. Assignments, due dates, points and quizzes, straight from your courses. Each course keeps its own color, in the chat list too.
  3. Helpers check the bigger picture. Several helper agents work at the same time: this week's announcements, your Degree Works audit and what you told it before. You can open the agent map to watch them.
  4. You get a plan. Priorities, time estimates and the next step, with the plan it followed in view.

Canvas

Connect Canvas once with an access token in Settings. StudyHawk only reads: it never submits anything for you. It reads your courses, assignments, quizzes, discussions, grades, announcements, modules, pages and files.

  • Courses page: what is due in each course, with a priority and a time estimate for every item, and each course in its own color.
  • Grades: it works out your grade by category (weights and dropped scores) the way Canvas does, and what you need on the final or on the rest of the work to reach a grade.
  • Course files: it downloads course PDFs and pages into a folder per course, so you can ask about them.
  • Chats by course: every chat is tied to the courses it is about, and any assignment has a button that opens a chat about it.

Degree Works and your school account

If your university uses Degree Works, StudyHawk reads your degree audit and turns it into a semester-by-semester map of the requirements and credits you have left. With your school account it can also read, search and draft emails in your school Outlook; it only sends an email after you approve it. Every sign-in goes through your university's Microsoft and Duo login, and still needs your Duo approval.

Use the model you already pay for

StudyHawk does not ship its own chat model. It uses the model you bring:

  • Your ChatGPT account: sign in with ChatGPT (through Codex) and StudyHawk uses your subscription. No API bill.
  • Your API keys: OpenAI, Claude, DeepSeek, Gemini, OpenRouter or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint. You pay your provider directly.
  • Auto: short questions go to a fast model; code and long plans go to a stronger one.

What StudyHawk adds is everything around the model. PixlAI-Engine, its agent engine, turns that model into an agent that plans, uses tools, sends helper agents in parallel and keeps working in the background.

Use StudyHawk inside ChatGPT or Claude

Prefer ChatGPT or Claude? StudyHawk is also an app (an MCP server with OAuth). Copy your StudyHawk app link from Settings, add it as an app in ChatGPT or a connector in Claude, and ask about your classes right there. It is the same account, with the same memory, skills, workspace and Canvas connection, and you choose what it can access.

Your private workspace

Every student gets a private workspace: a small, isolated computer on our servers. StudyHawk uses it to read PDF and Word files, run Python and Node code examples while you learn, build documents, spreadsheets and charts, and browse the web with a real Chromium browser. It keeps your notes and files between sessions, with a folder per course. Other students cannot see your files, and you can delete them at any time.

  • Storage: 5 GB for course files, drafts and projects.
  • Memory: 2 GB, enough for the browser, documents, spreadsheets and data analysis.
  • Processor: shared Intel Xeon CPU time, up to half a core per workspace.
  • Sleeps after: 15 minutes without activity; it wakes up the next time you ask for something.

RAG: answers from your own material

A RAG is a searchable library StudyHawk builds from your material, so it answers from your actual notes, readings and lectures instead of from memory. Ask "make a RAG for ACG 2021" and it indexes that course's material; you can rebuild or delete it later.

Accelerator Lab

The Accelerator Lab is StudyHawk's cluster of AMD GPUs, reserved for model workloads: embeddings for RAG over your notes and course files, transcribing lecture recordings (including class videos), analyzing images and slides, and estimating how long Canvas work will take. Jobs run in one fair queue and the results, such as transcripts, are saved back to your files. Start something long, close the tab or lock your phone, and you get a notification when it is ready.

An agent that remembers and works on a schedule

  • Memory: your studies, schedule, goals and how you like answers, plus lessons it learns about your courses.
  • Skills: teach StudyHawk how you want a task done, for example "when I ask for lab report help in CHM 2045".
  • Scheduled tasks: ask "every Monday at 8 summarize what is due" and it runs on its own.
  • Research: it searches published papers and books (OpenAlex) and formats references in APA 7 or MLA 9.
  • Web: it searches the web, reads pages and downloads files.
  • Approvals: reading, searching and planning just happen; anything that cannot be undone waits for your yes.
  • Notifications: push notifications, and every morning a summary of what is due today and tomorrow.
  • Everywhere: installable on your phone and computer as an app (PWA), with dictation in the chat.

Usage and plans

StudyHawk runs on dedicated hardware: Intel Xeon servers for workspaces and AMD GPUs for the Accelerator Lab. Usage is measured in Compute Units (workspace CPU time) and Accelerator Units (one minute of GPU), with a daily and a weekly allowance that renew automatically, so capacity is shared fairly and the service stays free. Your balance is under Settings → Usage.

Frequently asked questions

What is StudyHawk?

StudyHawk is an AI academic assistant (an AI agent) for university students. It connects to Canvas and Degree Works, answers questions about your classes in plain language and turns your courses into a plan with priorities, time estimates and the next step. It runs at studyhawk.app and was formerly called EagleDocs.

Who is StudyHawk for?

University students at partner universities. You sign up with the email your university gave you; only emails from partner universities can create an account, and more universities are joining.

How much does StudyHawk cost?

StudyHawk has a free plan. Workspaces share CPU time instead of getting dedicated cores, which keeps it free. Plans with more resources for heavier work, billed monthly, may be offered.

Which AI models does StudyHawk use?

StudyHawk does not ship its own chat model. It uses the model you bring: your ChatGPT account (through Codex, using your subscription with no API bill) or your own API key for OpenAI, Claude, DeepSeek, Gemini, OpenRouter or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint. In Auto mode, quick questions go to a fast model and harder ones to a stronger model.

Does StudyHawk work with Canvas?

Yes. Add a Canvas access token in Settings and StudyHawk reads your courses, assignments, quizzes, grades, announcements, modules, pages and files. It is read-only: it never submits anything for you.

Does StudyHawk work with Degree Works?

Yes, if your university uses Degree Works. StudyHawk reads your degree audit and turns it into a semester-by-semester map of the requirements and credits you have left.

Can I use StudyHawk inside ChatGPT or Claude?

Yes. StudyHawk is also an app (an MCP server with OAuth): add it as an app in ChatGPT or as a connector in Claude and ask about your classes there. It is the same account, with the same memory, skills, workspace and Canvas connection.

Does StudyHawk do my homework for me?

No. StudyHawk explains, plans and guides you through your work. It does not hand in graded work as if it were yours, and it never submits anything to Canvas.

Is my data private?

Each student gets an isolated private workspace that other students cannot see, and you can delete your files at any time. Canvas access is read-only. A saved school password is encrypted on the server, only decrypted inside your own workspace while signing in, and every sign-in still needs your Duo approval. You can export your data or delete your account.

What languages does StudyHawk support?

The app is available in English and Spanish, and you can write to Hawk in either language.
